Level 1 Japanese
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mr G. White.
Students learn to communicate for normal life purposes, such as going shopping in Japanese, ordering in a restaurant, giving and receiving directions, visiting a doctor, writing letters, emails and brochures in Japanese.
NCEA Level 1 Japanese builds on the knowledge and skills of Year 9 and 10 Japanese. Students study the script writing of kanji, hiragana and katakana. They also further their spoken Japanese skills in class with each other, their teacher and Japanese exchange students.
It is highly recommended that you already have the conversational language in both writing and speaking to ensure you get the best out of this course. This may have been achieved by speaking and communicating in Japanese in Year 9 and/or Year 10.
If you are unsure if this course is for you, please see Mrs Sime or Ms Law for support.
