The World of Sports: Exploring Sports and Games through English

Students will look at the world of sports including the psychology, community, and physical experience of sports and games as represented in films, books, poems, and oral texts etc. Students will also create texts that reflect their experience and knowledge of the sporting world. As part of this course students may explore ideas of gender diversity in sports, consider how political issues and issues of equity play out on the sports field, and how sports fits within wider concepts of nationalism and culture.
