Developing Social Activism through English

Students will look at social issues such as inequity, racism, and climate change and explore how people have used various forms of social activism and protest to promote positive change in the world. Students will consider how films, books, poems, and oral texts etc. have represented these challenges to the social order. Students will also create texts that promote the change they wish to see in the world.

As part of this course students may explore the role of the individual in forging social change, the power of having a voice, and how societies establish and maintain structures of power.
