Course Description

01ITC or Information Technologies. In this subject you will learn the programming and computer science aspects of Digital Technologies. Your passion for computer related activities such as games and web development will be enhanced through the use of industry recognised processes and tools. 17+ credits offered.

 t is also aligned with the Ministry of Education and NZQA’s Hangarau Matihiko. You will learn and understand the basic nature of computational thinking and applying appropriate skills such as decomposition, abstraction, pattern recognition, algorithms, logic, and evaluation.

Achievement standards are University Entrance (UE) approved subjects and students can have a flexible and inclusive learning opportunities. This is a project-based and industry connected learning that includes but not limited to:

Course Overview

Term 1
Students will learn how to:
Use basic iterative and processes to develop a Web Design

6 credits Use basic iterative processes to develop a digital outcome.

Term 2
Students will learn how to:
Conceptualize, develop, refine and create a functioning web site

4 credits Develop a digital media outcome

Term 3
Students will learn how to:
Develop, refine and create a computer program using coding and programming language such as Python

4 credits Develop a computer program

Term 4
Students will undertake an external exam to demonstrate the knowledge and skills they learnt during the previous terms. A practice exam will be provided before the actual external to prepare them, make them understand, design, analyze, describe and discuss what makes an effective user experience through a graphical user interface design.
