Level 1 Samoan

The Year 11 Samoan language course is an NCEA Level 1 course that offers 24 credits (including the Level 2 Presentation standard) . It will focus on the 4 communication functions of reading, writing, listening and speaking. This course will cover both every day and respectful terms used in different contexts and situations. For the internal standards of interacting, presenting and writing, students will be required to contribute work and evidence to a portfolio over the course of the programme. Units of work will include special days in NZ and Samoa, comparison with other countries and cultures, school & work life and life in Samoa. By the end of Year 11, students should have a sound general knowledge of the Samoan language and culture.

Recommended Prior Learning
Students must have passed at least 50% of the Year 10 Samoan course or be at intermediate level in writing and speaking. Students must also attempt the Level 1 presentation or HOLA approval.
Total Credits Available: 24 credits.
Externally Assessed Credits: 10 credits.
Internally Assessed Credits: 14 credits.
