Year 10 Dance

Course Description

Year 10 Dance will continue to develop student’s practical knowledge and skills learnt in Year 9. Students will learn a choreographed dance routine which they will perform to a live audience. They will also be given the opportunity to create their own choreographies in small group situations. An exposure to a variety of dance styles and genres throughout the year will include, Hip Hop, Body Percussion, Stomp, Contemporary and Disco. Students will learn about the elements of Dance and have the opportunity to gain 4 credits towards NCEA Level 1. 

Recommended Prior Learning

This is an open entry course however students will need to have some Dance experience in order to achieve in this course.

Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

Students will have the opportunity to view at least one live performance throughout the year. Costs will be given closer to the time but usually range between $20-30 per performance (including transportation).
