Course Description

This course is a full year course aimed at students who want to learn basic Samoan language and/or want to gain a better understanding of the Samoan language and culture. This course is the prerequisite for entrance into Samoan level 1 and offers a Level 1 Samoan internal standard worth 4 credits. Throughout the Year 10 course students will be able to describe the weather, create invitations and know the formal words for invitations, understand Samoan instructions to preparing foods and cultural protocols, learn about specific body parts, learn the different traditional attire of Samoan culture, create basic Samoan handicrafts and learn the connection of the Samoan way of life with Samoan myth and legends.

Students must have successfully passed the Year 9 Samoan course or gain approval from the HOLA to enter the Year 10 Samoan course.
