Te Waharoa Intake 1

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr T. Ngataki

Te Waharoa is intended for students Year 10 to 12 who are already taking Te Waharoa. The programme is a two year programme where students have the opportunity to obtain a Level 2 National Certificate in Maaori that recognises Maaori skills and knowledge. Credits gained through Te Waharoa can also be counted toward obtaining NCEA Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications. The course will be made up of modules that could consist of: Reo Maaori, Maaori Performing Arts, Whakairo (Maaori Carving), Tikanga, Hauora, Mau Raakau and others from field Māori. Modules will be determined by student interest and resources available within the school and community. 


Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

Fees for Wananga and transport if needed will be notified during the year.

Recommended Prior Learning

Open Entry. The Te Ao Maaori Learning Area will provide an environment of learning to those who have an interest or passion for Maaori heritage or Te Ao Maaori (Maaori Knowledge).
