Te Waharoa Intake 2
Course Description

Te Waharoa Intake 2 is intended for students Year 9 to Year 12 who are not already enrolled in Te Waharoa Intake 1. This course is a two year programme where students have the opportunity to obtain a Level 2 National Certificate in Maaori that recognises Maaori skills and knowledge. Credits gained through Te Waharoa can also be counted towards obtaining NCEA Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications. The course will be made up of Mau rakau (maori weaponry) credit attainment under the authority of Te Whare Tu Taua, a nationally recognized and accredited programme, incorporating Te Reo Maaori, Hauora and Tikanga Maaori. Modules will be determined by student interest and resources available within the school and community.
This course requires students to be resilient and show commitment. Students will have the opportunity to obtain Level 1, 2 or 3 NZQA credits all within a Te Ao Maaori framework.

The Te Ao Maaori Department will provide an environment of learning to those who have an interest or passion for Maaori heritage or Te Ao Maaori (Maaori Knowledge).
