01DTE or Digital Technologies. In this subject you will learn the creative aspect of Digital Technologies. Your creativity in the arts, such as drawing, making music, video creation and other media outcomes will be enhanced and put to good use.  17+ Credits offered

It is aligned with the Ministry of Education and NZQA’s Hangarau Matihiko.

Achievement standards are UE approved and students may have the option to gain credits from unit standards.  This will provide you a flexible and inclusive learning opportunities. This is a project-based and industry connected learning that includes:

Course Overview

Term 1
The first task is a combined achievement standards that can provide students with 10 credits!
Students will learn basic iterative processes to develop a refined outcome through a choice of:
a) Web Design or
b) Chatbot: Python programming

The chatbot must be able to hold a simple conversation with if, else, variables, sequence and conditions by recognizing words in the input sentences that can provide a logical response.

Develop a digital media outcome and using basic iterative processes
10 Credits Use basic iterative processes to develop a digital outcome
a) Web Design: Protecting My Taonga ( Environmental Activism "Taonga=Treasure" )
b)Chatbot: Conditions of Entry to NZ during COVID -19

Term 2
Students will continue to work on developing and designing a digital outcome from their selected tasks:
a) chatbot program or
b) a driverless car

Develop a computer program
10 Credits Use basic iterative processes to develop a digital outcome

Term 3
Students will learn how to:
Conceptualize, develop, refine and create a series of completed ePosters to promote a school subject they like. Students may also create an ePoster or Social Media landing page to create a campaign, advocacy or any suitable and appropriate advertisement and marketing material.

4 credits Develop a design for a digital media outcome

Term 4
Students will undertake an external exam to demonstrate the knowledge and skills they learnt during the previous terms. A practice exam will be provided before the actual external to prepare them, make them understand, design, analyze, describe and discuss what makes an effective user experience through a graphical user interface design.

Assessment Information Assessment tasks are portfolio based. Combined tasks of achievement standards will be in offer to get the maximum credits possible. It is envisioned that students will earn 14-16 credits of University Entrance (UE) Approved subjects with literacy credits
