Course Description

This course replaces the 01ROB and 01CSM and it now rebranded as 01IT or Information Technologies. This course focuses on the computer science, algorithm and computational thinking aspects of digital technology. It is also an UE approved subject.  

01DT or Digital Technologies focus is on the aspect of computer science. It specialise in programming, logical thinking and algorithm. This is a project-based learning that includes:

  • Robotics
  • Algorithm
  • Cloud computing
  • Big data concepts
  • Coding and programming using HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • Mobile game development
  • App development
  • Media outcome i.e. Dynamic and responsive web both for mobile and desktop
  • Infographics i.e. designing online posters

Course Overview

Term 1
Students will learn basic iterative processes to develop a refined
a) chatbot program or
b) a driverless car

The chatbot must be able to hold a simple conversation by recognising words in the input sentences and providing a suitable reply.

Whilst the driverless car must be able to drive from the codes the student have created.

Term 2
Students will continue to work on developing and designing a digital outcome from their selected tasks:
a) chatbot program or
b) a driverless car

Term 3
Students will learn how to:
Conceptualize, develop and create a completed web site promoting their driverless car or chatbot.

AS 91880 1.4
4 credits Develop a digital media outcome

Term 4
Students will learn how to:
Design, analyze, describe and discuss a user experience through a graphical user interface.

AS 91886 1.10 3 credits
Demonstrate understanding of human computer interaction
