Recommended Prior LearningMinimum of 12 credits from Achievement Standards in Level 1 Science, or 8 credits with at least one Merit. Mechanics 90940 (Physics External) is highly recommended.
Strong skills in Mathematics are required, particularly geometry and algebra, and students should be taking a Level 2 Mathematics course. Students not meeting these requirements can also gain entry by approval from HOLA Science.
Level 2 Physics continues from Level 1 Science (01SPC and 01SBP). Topics include Mechanics and Electricity, and covers research practical investigation skills. A large component of the course is assessed in an external exam at the end of the year.
It is highly recommended that you have Level 1 Science including the Mechanics External (AS90940) and a strong background in Mathematics to be successful in 02 Physics.
Level 2 Physics is an essential step towards studying Physics at Level 3. Physics career pathways are Engineering, Medicine, Science, Telecommunications, Computing hardware and software, Meteorology, Geology, ETCO Electrical Apprenticeship program and more.
